Operation Book Bags
We are currently re-launching “Operation Book bags”- a back to school project to bless a needy child in the Philippines. We are collecting new or gently used book bag filled with school supplies like paper, notebook, crayons, colored pencils, markers, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, construction paper, scissors, hard candy, a small toy, etc…including toothbrush, toothpaste, socks, underwear, a t-shirt. Don’t forget to include $5 in the bag for shipment which is scheduled immediately after the September 13th deadline to ensure prompt arrival for distribution on Christmas Day. Do you want to be there in the Philippines for the distribution? We need funding for travel. In any case, you may present this project to churches, synagogues, clubs, rotaries, schools, churches, groups, or any organization you may be a member or officer of. You may contact us for detailed information packets or you may send your donation to MBI/Operation Book bags. Come, join us in changing young people’s lives. It might change yours too.
Fifteen years of faithful giving

A heartfelt appreciation
goes to Clifton and Diana Lynn Sipe of Atlantic
Coastal Contractors for their faithful partnership and
outstanding dedication to support this ministry since its
inception. Through their faithful support MBI was able to
feed the hungry children in the
Philippines since 1995. Thank
you, Cliff and Lynn. The
children appreciate you, and the
Lord smiles on you. July 21, 2006
was dedicated for Thanksgiving
Celebration for more than 10
years of faithful work. We have
a host of people to thank in
making the celebration a
success from donated food to services. Thank you
friends, partners and families. Thank you for giving to
the Lord. |
A beautiful memorial

Another milestone for MBI this
past year was the blessing of knowing Bill and Virginia
Shaffer from Ohio. After arriving in Chesapeake in
2003, Bill and Virginia became dedicated supporters of
what MBI does. They love children! When Bill became
ill with a bad kidney and diabetes, he never stopped
promoting the work of MBI. One
day, Bill called from Chesapeake General Hospital
and said, “Lynn, I want you
to bring me more brochures.
I ran out.” He was giving them
to all the medical staff.
That’s how dedicated he
was. When Bill finally
succumbed to his illness and
rested to be with Jesus on
May 1st, Virginia announced according to Bill’s wishes
that instead of sending flowers of sympathy or
condolences to the bereaved family, a financial gift to
MBI would be appreciated. What a sacrificial thought!!
MBI became the recipient of financial gifts from the
Shaffer’s friends and family from many parts of the
country. We were amazed at the blessings we received.
Shortly after Bill’s funeral and as a living memorial for
Bill, Virginia donated funds to purchase the land and
build our first House of Refuge. I am privileged to let you
know that our first house will be called Bill and Virginia
Shaffer Home. |
